  7. new protocols, the comm program authors     │                               │ │
  8. needed to  provide  a way of  executing     │   │ SHELLS to DOS and         │ │
  9. these  new  protocols without  incorpo-     │   │ executes batch file...    │ │

  11. increase its  size unacceptably.  To do         │                             │
  12. this, the  authors  provide a  means to        \ /                            │
  13. exit to  DOS  (while remaining resident     ┌───────────────────────────────┐ │
  14. and connected to the BBS)  and  execute     │ Zmodem batch file containing  │ │
  15. the transfer protocol externally. (Thus     │ command and parameters to     │ │
  16. the  name  "external protocol").  After     │ execute Zmodem (DSZ.COM)      │ │
